SERVICES

Movement Rehabilitation

A full assessment of movement is performed to identify potential issues of motor control, strength, flexibility, and stability.

A plan is then developed to address any potential concerns, usually involving a combination of hands on treatment and exercises

MOVEMENT REHABILITATION

Physical Therapists are movement specialists trained to get you back to doing the things you love and achieve your full potential

Your initial visit will include a full movement evaluation.

Afterwards it is pretty simple:

1. Movement patterns that may impede recovery are identified

2. A personalized plan will be created to help address those movement patterns

3. Ongoing reassessment and adjustments will be made to your plan during follow up sessions

MANUAL

THERAPY

You can think of manual therapy as anything hands-on. Manipulation, mobilization, massage, and trigger point release are just some examples of manual therapy.

Manual therapy promotes an increase in range of motion to restore the mobility and flexibility of joints, muscles, etc.

Manual therapy also decreases pain and reduces inflammation/swelling by promoting the relaxation of muscles in addition to increasing circulation within the area.

IMS vs ACUPUNCTURE

IMS

  • Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a westernized approach to needling.

  • Targets dysfunctional muscles and nerve in order to relieve pain

  • Often an unpleasant aching experience but can give instant relief depending on the injury

  • Great for releasing trigger points and chronic pain

  • The needle is inserted into a tight muscle to stimulate a contract-relax reflex, then removed immediately

  • Most common side effects: soreness and fatigue up to 48 hrs after, pain during needle insertion

ACUPUNCTURE

  • Acupuncture is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine

  • Targets meridian points to promote proper flow of blood or chi

  • Should be a relaxing and and relatively pain free experience

  • Great for stress, nausea, headaches and well as re-balancing the body's energies

  • Multiple needles are inserted into specific meridian point and left in while you relax for 10-20min

  • Most common side effects - local tenderness and pain during needle insertion. Most people feel fine after

*Your therapist will give more information about the potential benefits and side effects of needling as it relates specifically to your injury.
