New ICBC Changes for Physio Visits

Writer: Edmund GuEdmund Gu

Starting April 1st 2019, ICBC is changing the amount of coverage and implementing a new system for physio billing. Find out how it may affect you below.

New ICBC changes for rehab start April 1st

How this affects you

Good news, ICBC has increased coverage for everyone to see a physio! After an accident, everyone is covered for up to 25 sessions within the first 12 weeks. The amount they pay out has also increased which means the user fees (amount you pay on top of what ICBC covers) that most clinics charge will be considerably lower or all together removed.

For example, at North Shore Sports Medicine, the user fee has been reduced from $50 to $16. Your first visit however, is 100% covered with us.

How this affects us

Your first visit now requires a 5 page assessment to be filled out and submitted to ICBC. Since none of us has had to fill out one of these forms yet, I cannot tell you how this will affect your first visit but expect more assessment and less treatment the first day (another reason why your first visit at NSSM is fully covered).

There's also a new system in place for billing and other administrative changes that I won't bother you with the details.

Any questions? Feel free to contact the clinic or myself
